CUMC provides many opportunities for men of all ages to fulfill God’s call. We walk together and help each other know Christ in a deeper way. We are passionate about developing leaders within the church, the home, and at work.
Men’s small groups and Bible study
Small groups and Bible studies allow men to grow together in faith, hold each other accountable, and strengthen our bonds of friendship. Take a look at the different ways we grow in our faith and find your place with us.
Friday morning breakfast
Every Friday morning in the Christian Life Center (south building), from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., men gather for a bacon and egg breakfast, prayer, fellowship, a devotional and discussion. We are an informal bunch; regular attendance is not required. For more information, contact David Tobias.
True Grit Bible Study
True Grit is a men’s Bible study that addresses the issues men face as we seek to grow in our faith. True Grit meets every Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m. in Rm S126 of the Christian Life Center. We have an open format with opportunities for discussion and focus mainly on reading Scripture and discussing it in relation to our lives. True Grit is a continuing study group. We encourage men to participate whenever their schedules allow and try to structure the format so that no one feels lost or behind if they miss a week. For more information, please contact David Tobias.
Tuesday Night Men’s Bible Study (TNMBS)
CUMC’s Tuesday Night Bible Study is another opportunity for ongoing, Bible-based teaching. It is meant to be a first step for many men to better understand the Bible and how its timeless lessons are still relevant today. No preparation or homework is required.
Tuesday Night Men’s Bible Study meets from 6:45 – 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday nights in Rm N255 of the north building.
Men’s Service Group and Missions
CUMC Men’s Service Group (MSG) is a volunteer organization designed to help CUMC men serve God through home repairs and maintenance in Plano and the surrounding areas. Work is done in the homes of those in need and on CUMC grounds on the first Saturday of the month.
Methodist Men are also heavily involved in CUMC’s greater missions ministry. We are some of the leaders for both House on the Corner and our church’s Disaster Response Team. To find out more about these opportunities, please visit CUMC’s Missions Page.
What does golf have to do with faith? CUMC’s golf tournaments provide a chance for men to have fun together, relax and enjoy God’s creation. They also raise money for our youth scholarship fund. CUMC hosts two scramble golf tournaments each year; both men and women are eligible. Specific details to each golf tournament are posted on this page when a tournament is coming up.
Wings, Woods and Water
Methodist Men designed Wings, Woods and Water with the outdoorsman in mind. How many of us experience God most powerfully in nature? Our own Senior Pastor, Don Underwood, says that nature is the #1 place he experiences God’s presence.
Wings, Woods and Water schedules events throughout the year for men to explore and enjoy God in the Great Outdoors. We host shotgun sporting events, guided fly fishing trips, camping excursions, wild game hunts, outdoor photography, and more.
