Nursery Ministry

Growing in the Grace of Godnursingministry-lainey

Our nursery provides care for children newborn through two years of age on Sunday mornings for each hour of worship. We offer a welcoming, nurturing, and safe place for your child. We want your child to feel welcome and loved while learning of God’s grace.

Sign-In at the Nursery

Infants are in Room N165
Walkers are in Room N161

The nursery classrooms are located in the north hallway of the north education building. Before proceeding to your child’s classroom, please check them in at one of the two computer kiosks located on either side of the welcome desk. You will receive three name badges.  Place one sticker on your child’s back.  When you drop off your child at their classroom, you will give another sticker to the teacher to keep in the classroom. Keep the third sticker with you.  This will serve as your “pick-up receipt” when you return for your child.  You may read more details about the computer check-in procedures here.

If you are visiting, please complete the yellow visitor sheet located by the computer check-in stations.  You will also receive three nametags.  If you would like to have your child’s name added to the attendance system, please complete a blue registration form.

A sign by nursingministry-lukeandwyatteach door indicates the age group for that classroom. If your child cries when you drop him or her off, our staff will work with you to find the best way to comfort your child so that you and your child can enjoy your time at church. The nursery staff is encouraged to page parents only when necessary. Should the need arise, the letters/numbers at the top of your pick up receipt will show up on the large video screens in the sanctuary.  If you are paged, please come to your child’s room as quickly as possible. In the event of fire or evacuation, children will be escorted to the northeast corner of the parking lot.

Snacks and Supplies

Please bring all necessary items with you. Make sure all belongings, including the bag, are labeled. Parents are responsible for supplying bottles, milk, formula, juice cups, finger foods, pacifiers and loveys. If you use cloth diapers, include a sealable plastic bag for soiled diapers. Please note any concerns about allergies to certain snacks/foods on the sign-in sheet.

Illness

The welfare of the children under our care is our first priority. If your child becomes ill, you will be notified immediately. Please refrain from bringing your child if he or she has had any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours: diarrhea, vomiting, fever, rash, or virus.  Children who have seen a physician and/or taken antibiotics for 48 hours will be admitted at the discretion of the nursery staff. Please understand that any decision regarding an ill child is made to provide a healthy and comfortable atmosphere for all children, volunteers, and staff members.

Our Nursery Staff

On Sunday mornings, both paid staff and volunteers care for our youngest children. Each worker has completed a background check and received necessary training, including CPR and basic first aid. While you are attending worship and/or Sunday school, the Nursery staff and volunteers will be sharing God’s love with your child through pictures, stories, songs, and playful interaction.

If you are interested in volunteering with this ministry or are interested in employment opportunities, please contact the Director of the Nursery Ministry or the Director of the Children’s Ministry.

Concerns

Our goal is to provide your child with a loving and safe Christian atmosphere. From time to time, concerns do arise. Please inform us of any problems so they may be addressed immediately. If we can assist you in any way, please contact the Assistant Director of Children’s Ministry, Renee DeVaney (mailto:renee@cumc.com)
