Disaster Response Team

The Disaster Response Team (DRT) provides assistance to people whose property has been devastated by a natural disaster. Their prime responsibility is to make things safe, sanitary and secure in the early stages of recovery. Additionally, the team can offer reconstructive assistance to those who may not have a support system to help them.

Our team is fully trained and certified by UMCOR. They are also a fully equipped chainsaw certified team. We have been active since 2004 and have responded to many locations with multiple teams sent to those locations. We have provided clean up following floods, fires, severe thunderstorms and hurricanes (Ike, Rita, Katrina). We have also been involved in the rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina.

This courageous team has been all over Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. We have also partnered with other teams in our conference including 50+ people and 7 churches. In reference to one of the trips, one member of DRT said “It is an experience we will not forget…It was hard work but worth it because of the many people we helped during a difficult time”.
