- Health Kits
- Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry (Genesis Women’s Group) of Christ United Methodist Church meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. The group meets in Room N155 from 7 to 9 pm.
They knit prayer shawls and once the shawls are completed, they are prayed over by the group at their bi-weekly meetings. The shawls are then taken by our CUMC Chaplains to church members, visitors, homebound community members, and family and friends who are in the hospital or have lost a loved one. The Hospital Chaplains take the prayer shawls when visiting a patient at the hospital. Prayer shawls can also be sent to friends or loved ones by contacting Marylin Smith. If you are interested in joining this group, contact Marylin Smith.
- Cleaning Eye Glasses
Volunteer your time to help process donated glasses including cleaning glasses, and/or repairing them, scanning them for prescription strength, and entering them into a computerized inventory system. Training will be provided by team members. You can also support our ongoing VOLT missions by providing donated eye glasses, financial gifts, and prayers.
This project will help make blankets for adults or children who are homeless right here in our area. The blanket will provide warmth and send a message that CUMC cares. It’s easy-just tie a double knot in each of the ties hanging around the edges. Don’t forget to say a prayer for the person receiving the blanket. In addition, we need help cutting and prepping fleece for the blankets. Once several blankets are completed, CUMC staff and volunteers will deliver them to our community partners to be distributed.

Bear With Me
The Bear with Me Program was started in 2003 at Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC).
The mission is to provide stuffed bears, pillows, and dolls to children who are ill, in counseling, under-privileged or displaced from their homes due to violence, abuse or other conflict. The goal is to make a difference in a child’s life through the word of God.
How to Make a Bear to Donate
CUMC has participated in this program for 9 years and has distributed over 8,200 items.
The Bear with Me program was recently awarded the Community Partner Recognition award from Plano Medical Center. Bear With Me delivered personalized handmade bears, dolls and pillows to comfort children in need to local clinics and hospitals (see list below). Please congratulate Ruth Jensen and her team for sharing their gifts and talents with others for many years. For more information or to get involved contact email@example.com.

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands.”
1 John 5:1-2
