Children & Youth Activities
The Sports & Rec Center is a place for all ages with a wide range of activities. Listed below are just some of the ways your children/youth can become involved in Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC) Sports. Daily use of the facility requires membership, but all of our programs are open to the community.
Upward Basketball & Cheer
One of the most popular youth leagues across the country, Upward Basketball & Cheer is always a blast for everyone involved. Our sports and recreational ministry has one of the largest Upward programs in Collin County!
Girls on the Run
Inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. A 10-week program, meeting twice a week. Sessions focus on life lessons including physical health, respecting yourself and others, nutrition, gratitude, team work and community involvement. Register here.
Tippi Toes Dance
Tippi Toes offers a ballet, tap, and jazz combo class for children ages 3-5. In this class, children will learn a variety of dances as well as appropriate dance terms and positions. There is a $30 annual registration fee and monthly tuition is $55. Classes are Wednesdays from 2:15 – 3:00 PM in room 107 in the Children’s Discovery Center. To register, contact Miss Lindsey (972-853-1579).
Run for Christ
Bring your kids to the Sports & Rec. Center and “Run for Christ”. Keep your children active and promote exercise by participating in this simple run/reward program. Kids ages 4 and up can run laps (or walk or wheelchair – just get them moving) on the track. For every 5 laps completed, they get to pick a prize out of our “Treasure Chest”. Children will get to keep track of their laps on a coloring sheet…it’s easy and fun!
Summer can be seem so long sometimes that you have trouble finding enough things to fill your time. Lucky for you we offer some exciting summer camps for kids here at CUMC.
Visit the Summer camps page for more information.
Christ United Methodist Church is committed to loving the body of Christ in all forms, including those with special needs. Just like any family, we all have our differences, and we should work together to make sure that all of us grow in the light of God’s Love. Our “Angels” teach us that wheelchairs are not obstacles to playing in God’s house, that communication disorders do not prevent us from talking to God, and that learning differences do not keep us from being students of the Lord.
We work diligently to eliminate the obstacles that prevent all people from participating in the programs offered at CUMC. It is our goal to provide a church environment that is safe, nurturing and enjoyable for all those seeking the kingdom of God.
Current opportunities for children with special needs:
- All children with special needs are welcome to participate in any activity CUMC has to offer. We simply ask that your child be able to function within our preset child to adult ratio. If this is not possible, please contact us and see what other arrangements can be made.
- Awesome Angel Afternoon: A unique program where we provide an entire afternoon of respite to our families with children with special needs!
- Summer Camps. Check out the latest information on summer camps that are available to children with special needs.
