SERVING TOGETHER DAY

Join us for a church-wide day of service Apr 20 from 8:30 AM – 12 PM. We invite you to serve with us as we partner with community outreach programs and our neighbors to tidy up our community and support those in need.

SERVICE OPTION DETAILS

Agape-

The Agape Resource & Assistance Center is located in East Plano. The center helps women, moms and their children that are facing situational homelessness. Caseworkers and counselors work with the clients to gain skills, strength, and stability for self- sufficiency.

Project – Cleaning up flowerbeds, mowing, edging, and laying mulch.

Agape is located in East Plano-address will be given at registration due to client sensitivity (near 75 and 15th street)

City of Plano-

Help the City of Plano to clean up the grounds at a local park. This is a great serving opportunity for families with kids of any age and to join others for play time afterwards at the park or to get some fresh air. Trash grabbers/bags will be provided at registration. Park TBD

City House (various locations)-

The mission of City House is to provide emergency shelter, transitional residential living, and street outreach programs and services to at-risk individuals from newborn-22 years old. Their clients are in need due to abuse, neglect, and homelessness.

Project: We will be working on the Transitional Living Program house: Boyd House. This will include paint touch-ups and deep cleaning inside the home.

The address for the projects are protected for client safety. Address will be given at registration.

God’s Pantry-

God’s Pantry believes in extending a helping hand by providing food to anyone facing circumstances beyond their control.

Project #1- Sort fresh/canned goods, help load cars

Project #2-Organize items in a storage closet

Hope Restored

Hope Restored Missions exists to restore hope to those oppressed by the circumstances with a focus on the homeless and those facing housing insecurities and tragedies of their lives.

Project: Assist with Community Outreach Event – Event held in the parking lot of the agency. Help distribute clothing, shoes, hygiene, and snack packs while visiting with their clients.

Waiver: Hope Restored Waiver

Location: 1947 K Ave. Plano, 75074 Suite B100 Children are welcome, but please supervise.

Love Your Neighbor Kits (hygiene & snack packs)

We will be assembling “Love Your Neighbor” kits for adults and children facing housing insecurities or residing in shelters. This will be an on-site activity at Christ United but can also be done as a “Serve from home” activity.

No waiver required.

Plano Overnight Warming Station (POWS)

POWS helps our neighbors that are experiencing homelessness with a warm place to stay during the coldest winter nights. Participants will help organize the storage closets and cleaning overnight supplies stored at their Plano location.

No waiver required.

Sandwich Blessings

Sandwich Blessings is in partnership with StreetSide Showers with participants providing sandwiches to our neighbors in need.

Project: Prepare sandwiches in advance and deliver to the event held at the Assistance Center of Collin County. Stay and interact with the participants while they enjoy their lunch. The team lead will advise where the sandwiches will be assembled in advance.

No waiver required.

Support Our Troops-Veteran’s Resale Store

The resale store collects clothing, electronics, and furniture for both veterans and active service members. Proceeds from the store help soldiers and their families with financial assistance or once in a lifetime experiences.

We will be helping to sort/organize donated items, place items in the store, and perform light cleaning duties.

No waiver required.

VOLT (VISION OF LIGHT TEAM)

VOLT provides free vision care to those in need locally and abroad.

Project: Cleaning donated eyeglasses so they will be ready to be analyzed and put into inventory for distribution at various clinics/events.

No waiver required.
