12th Grade Students & Parents
Our Seniors and their parents are invited to join us during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday school hour for a four-part series to gain some insightful knowledge that will help ease the college transition. Registration is not required, and there is no cost to attend. Breakfast and coffee will be served. We hope to see you in the Sports & Rec Loft (2nd floor) on the dates below.
Feb 10: Time Management (Bill Baxley, guest speaker)
Practical guides to help in balancing your time; considering short-term and long-term goals; developing systems to evaluate which things are worthy of your time; prioritizing; and discovering how to make the most of the time you have!
March 24: The Riveting World of Finances (Steve Homoky, guest speaker)
You’ll find out practical suggestions for handling financial matters and budgeting while away from home; understanding the seriousness of debt and the length of time required to pay off debt; compounding interest rates on loans and credit cards; and how to make spending a spiritual matter.
April 14: Legal Matters (Nick Nicholas, guest speaker)
Discussions focusing on the legal responsibilities of being 18 (an adult); considering the responsibility of binding contracts such as (apartments, fraternity house, etc.); and learning what it means to be “guilty by association”, long-term consequences for poor choices, and more.
May 5: Mental Health (Laurie Kendig, Amanda Kendig, guest speaker)
Presentation will cover common mental health issues in college and young adulthood. Students will learn how to recognize when you or someone you know is experiencing stress, anxiety or depression, healthy coping skills to use and where to get help if you need it. Will also cover proactive steps parents can take to support your teen.
