Did you know a majority of Christ United Youth mission projects are funded by your generous giving during our annual telethon? Projects such as our annual APPA Mission Trip, Spring Break Mission Trip, Mystery Trip service projects, and Confirmation Service Project are only a few ways our youth transforms lives.
During the week of March 4th church members will receive a phone call from one of our youth asking for a financial commitment. Members will have the chance to purchase one or more $25 “mission shares”.
For your convenience, there are several ways you can make your donation:
- Visit our atrium table on Sunday, March 3 & March 10
- Mail your donation (payable to Christ United) to CUMC Youth Ministry – 3101 Coit Road, Plano, TX 75075
- Give online – Choose the giving link you prefer listed under “Ways to Give Securely Online” (ACH Bank Draft or Credit Card) then follow the instructions provided. Note: If you choose the Credit Card method, be sure to add “Youth Missions” in the “Special Instructions for Seller” section. If you have any questions about this process, contact the Finance Office at (972) 596-4303.
Our annual Missions Share Telethon is a fun project for our youth! They enjoy talking with you, their fellow church members, over the phone and raising money for some of their favorite youth trips and service projects. Please prayerfully consider your donation and say “YES” when they call.
Youth Sunday 2019
Every year, our 6th-12th grade students lead Youth Sunday. The students are involved in every aspect of all three traditional services. Youth Sunday 2019 will be on March 3. Our Seniors lead the worship service, while each grade plays their own unique role throughout the morning (there will be no Youth Sunday School). We invite families and friends to join us on this special Sunday. If you live out-of-town, that’s no problem! You can always stream our services online.
6th Grade: Door Greeters
7th Grade: Bulletins
8th Grade: Upstairs (bulletins, ushering, etc. in the balcony)
9th Grade: Hospitality
10th Grade: Offering
11th Grade: Share Tables in the atrium
12th Grade: Leadership in services
Youth Sunday kicks off our annual APPA telethon. On the Monday-Thursday following Youth Sunday, our students will make calls to the members of Christ United to raise money for our annual summer mission trip, APPA. Get ready to answer the call! For more information, please visit: cumc.com/appa or cumc.com/telethon.
Senior Sunday is June 2nd, and it’s going to be a great celebration! Your senior is invited to attend 9:45 a.m. Sunday School in the Sports and Rec Center. Afterwards, they will meet at 10:45 a.m. in the Loft wearing their cap and gown so they can process down the center aisle during the 11 a.m. Table of Grace service in Trinity Hall where they will be honored.
After the service, we will take group pictures before returning to the Sports and Rec Center gym for a celebration luncheon. The luncheon is free for the seniors and their parents; however, we know many of you will have other family members (siblings, grandparents, etc.) you might want to include. If so, they can purchase a ticket for $15 at the door. If one parent lives away, please send us their contact info so we can make sure they receive this info as well. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Sunday, May 19th, and also let us know how many people to expect (including extras).
We invite you to electronically submit 2 of your student’s photos (one past and one recent) and a couple of digital group photos of our 2018 CUMC class (past or present) to email@example.com for the slide show. We also ask that you please bring one recent, framed photo (any size) of your senior for a table display. You are invited to take your framed photo with you when you leave the luncheon that day. The deadline for ALL picture submissions is also Sunday, May 20th.
Our students have been a tremendous blessing to our youth ministry throughout the years. Although we are sad to see them go, we are eager to encourage them in their future journeys. Thank you for joining us in this celebration!
