Transitioning– Will Fort

Have you ever felt yourself falling away from your world? You can’t get your bearings or your grip, and you’re plummeting into chaos. What do you do? Do you panic? Do you give up? Sometimes, yes, but what we should do instead is find God; place all of your faith in God and give everything you have to Him.

This is where I find myself right now. I am in the middle of transitioning from the life I’ve grown up knowing to the rest of the world. It’s a big, scary place, but I have put my trust in God. Leaving the church family I’ve always known is the hardest part of this entire transition. It is hard to comprehend not coming to Sunday school or seeing the people I have fallen in love with through God.

At least, it was my biggest fear until I attended my freshman orientation. When I arrived, I was nervous, scared and alone. But God has a funny way of working, especially when we least expect it. I started to meet new people at orientation. I made more new friends with each passing hour. They all showed me so much love and acceptance, and my fears quickly dissipated.  There was no denying God was at work. He has blessed me with a new family and let me know I didn’t have to be afraid of being on my own.

Whether or not you are looking for God, you are always a part of His grand creation. Maybe we shouldn’t even actively “look” for God, but instead open our minds and our hearts to Him and what He has in store for us. If you find yourself feeling alone, reach out to God. He will never abandon us. He is for us, not against us. So fall upon God, give yourself up, and let Him take you on His crazy ride. You never know where God will take you.
