William Harry Moebius died on April 22, 2020, in Dallas Texas, his adopted state. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut to Ethel Herman and William Fredrick Moebius on October 27, 1930 and grew up there, attending local schools, including Yale University. After graduation from Yale, Bill worked for a number of companies in the chemical and oil refining industries in the engineering and construction fields, with assignments worldwide, including significant responsibility for design and construction of new and modified facilities, in many parts of the USA and world. Included were pipelines in the Philippines and Estonia, refineries in Aruba and New Jersey, and many first-of-a-kind chemical plants throughout the United States, Japan, and Spain. His longest tenure was with the Halcon SD Group based in New York City. Among other positions, he was President of Belmont Constructors, President and Chairman of Enserch Engineers and Constructors, Vice President and Regional Manager for H-R International, and Vice President/Construction for Coastal States Management Corps, a subsidiary of Coastal Corporation of Houston.
After retiring from Coastal in 1997, he joined The Project Group and served as their non-executive Chairman, for about 10 years. He was an Eagle Scout, a 32nd degree Mason, a 50-year member of Hiram Lodge #1 of New Haven, Connecticut, a member of Arabia Temple of Houston active for many years in the Motor Corps, and Houston Scottish Rite Bodies.
He joined the army during the Korean conflict and graduated from Field Artillery OCS, after which he was assigned as an instructor at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas.
Bill’s greatest love was his family, especially his wife, Ann, of 60 years, and his two sons, William Ford Moebius and Dr James R Moebius and their wives, Libby and Carrolyn, plus five grandchildren, Robby, Mark, Sarah, Jonathan, and Kelsey, all in the Dallas area.
