DARLENE NOSSAMAN
Darlene (Wallace) Nossaman was born December 12, 1933 in Jennings, OK. Darlene was the only daughter of Fred Otis Wallace and Evelyn (Bay) Wallace. Growing up she played girls basketball at Jennings High School. While at Oklahoma State University she met Norman Nossaman and the two were married, having three daughters: Leslie, Cheryl and Kayla. They travelled extensively (Scotland, England, Germany, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, etc. and visited all 50 states) and were avid researchers on family genealogy. Darlene was a pre-K and Kindergarten teacher for a couple of decades. She loved reading and continuing her adult education with lifelong learning classes. She and Norman were dedicated members and workers of the United Methodist Church in the towns where they lived. She enjoyed volunteering with the Republican Travel Team staff and driving the bus when President Bush came through Waco.
Mrs. Nossaman is the author of several books and articles on Homer Laughlin china and pottery and several other potteries in the East Liverpool, Ohio, area. Darlene also collaborated with other authors on their china/pottery documentation. She is well known in the Newell, WV and East Liverpool areas and aided the Museum of Ceramics with identifications and her knowledge. She decorated every place she lived with beautiful antiques and family heirlooms.
Her tenacity and good humor will be missed. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed decorating her house at Christmastime with her collection of Santa Claus figures and dolls.
She passed away on February 22, 2018 at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, Texas from complications of a brain tumor.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Norman Nossaman, of 62 years; their three daughters: Leslie, Cheryl (and her husband Don Roake) and Kayla; and two granddaughters Eva (and her husband Joel Khan) and Vivian Thomas.
Memorial services will take place at Christ United Methodist Church at 3101 Coit Rd., Plano, Texas (at the SW corner of Coit Rd. and Parker Rd.). The memorial service will be on March 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary. A reception will follow the service.
A second memorial service will take place at the Christian Church in Driftwood, Oklahoma for family and friends on March 19, 2018 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Cherokee Cemetery in Cherokee, OK.
